Top Model of Colour UK is back!
The race is on to find the season 7 winner for Top Model of Colour 2012. To add to the spice of the competition this year there are two very exciting additions to the competition, one season 7 has been branded as an international competition with the contestants representing their countries of origin and competing with models from across the world and two, for the first time ever there will be a special award for the top commercial model in the competition, however there will still be one overall winner.
Since the start of the month the regional heats have begun and attracted models from across the UK all competing for a coveted place in the grand finale to be held in November.
On the 1st July and 8th July, the TMC regional heats had an elite panel of judges including OK! Nigeria’s Social Writer Adeola Idowu, top model Ibukun Jegede, Abena Adjeiwaah from The House of Adjeiwaah, Your Magazine Editor Samantha Rockson, Shiloh Magazine Editor Helen Van De Ka, Editor of Profyle Magazine Cindy Okwera and Fashions Finest stylist Sonia Munafo. After much deliberation they put through a total of 22 finalists made of catwalk, commercial and high fashion models.
The female contestants that made it through to the grand finale are:
Founder of Mahogany Model Management, Sola Oyebade said: “we are very excited at adding the exciting international element to the competition and having models from across the world compete in the competition. Based on the modelling industry in the UK currently, there is no doubt that the industry generally has not yet realised, or is not yet willing to accept the need for employing and using more models of colour in their advertising campaigns. Top Model of Colour will continually play a pivotal role in promoting models of colour and to be a catalyst for change in the industry”.
OK! Nigeria loved last year’s winner Janita Francis and she has since appeared in OK! Nigeria Magazine as the first ever beauty model to be featured with a four page spread.
Once again TMC International has attracted the a great styling team with Splash Styling heading up the styling team, Mink London doing makeup and Adeline Hair & Beauty doing the hair. The designers and accessory companies onboard are ready for yet another great final.
