All hail Red Tails
Earlier this week OK! Nigeria were invited to a preview of the movie Red Tails which has finally been given a UK release and we think it was worth the wait.
Red Tails, directed by Anthony Hemingway, is inspired by true events of the first African-American fighter squadron. It stars hot talents David Oyelowo, Cuba Gooding Jnr, Terrence Howard, and Ne-Yo.
It’s World War II and the film centres around the lives of a group of African-American men known as the Tuskegee Airmen. These men are fiercely loyal to their country and are hungry to fight against the Germans. Racial discrimination and ignorance meant they were not considered worthy or intelligent enough to be pilots or fly military aircraft – that is until US Army Air Corps realise that they need to do things differently and reluctantly give the Tuskegee Airmen a chance.
This was a chance for the Tuskegee Airmen to shine and shine they did.
There’s plenty of humour and action throughout the film and you may even shed a tear but one thing’s for sure you’ll be entertained and educated about a story that needed to be told.
Red Tails is released in the UK on June 6
